Early Bird - Writing & Journalism
As a wordsmith, I enjoy producing clear, concise copy to quickly convey a message. I have always been fascinated in reading and writing about art, history, culture and nature.
Since 2006 I have worked for art galleries, historic houses and museums across Cumbria and I have met some amazing characters.
As a freelance journalist, I have been writing lifestyle and country features for the Westmorland Gazette in Kendal and its associated magazines for four years. Many of my photographs appear alongside my articles.
My passion for people and animals drives me to interview and photograph people from all walks of life - from vets and farriers to restauranteurs and local personalities.
All businesses need to recognise the importance of producing sharp, informative and jargon-free copy to stimulate the required response in their readers. Written material needs to be relevant, concise and to the point, presented in an appropriate style for the target audience, and free from technical and grammatical errors.
You may have created the most brilliant product ever, but you may not have the confidence to write about it! I can take that headache away by carefully crafting words and editing copy for you - from promotional leaflets, newsletters and press releases to content for your web pages. I am no stranger to turning work around on a sixpence to meet tight deadlines!
My areas of knowledge and interest are vast. I have a BA Honours in Fine Art and a PGCE in adult education, including teaching adults with Special Educational needs.
See the Press & Articles page for a few examples of my recent work.
